The Adventures of Allison & Benjamin: Ben's 1st Birthday day, his party and his 12 month check up!

Last Saturday was Ben's birthday and his party, so it was a very fun filled day!!! We started the day by both Scott and I going to get Ben out of bed and singing him Happy Birthday!! Then when Alli woke up, we let Ben go and jump in her crib! He loves to play in Alli's room!! Then we had a very nutritious breakfast of cupcakes!!!! (Just for Birthdays!) Even though it was not Alli's birthday we still let her have a cupcake! She was totally enjoying herself!! Ben seemed to like his cupcake too!!

Then since we were having his party the same day, we played for a little bit then cleaned up and the kids took naps (well, Alli never actually fell asleep just chilled out in her bed, maybe it was the cupcakes?!) Then it was time for the party!!! We had about 15 kids here, ages 9 months to 10 years old so it was a lot of fun!! I'm mad at myself because I did not have my camera at the party so I didn't get that many great pictures of the party goers and the birthday boy. I also didn't get a family picture or a picture of either of us with Benny!! But I got lots of pictures of Ben with his smash cake!! (He did eat the whole thing!!) What's a Birthday if you aren't on a sugar high?! We had so much fun and are so thankful we were able to celebrate the day with friends and family!!

Ben also got lots of birthday gifts and sweet cards both at the party and from friends and family from out of town. Thank you to everyone for your thoughtfulness! Ben (and Alli) have enjoyed playing with all the new toys!!

That night we just took it easy with our friends Andy and Sarah and their 2 kids Owen and Kendal that came in from out of town and Uncle Jimmy even stayed late to hang out!!! That night Ben did not want to go to sleep! I think he didn't want the partying to be over!! We had so much fun and I can not believe that our little boy is now a year old!!!

Last week we also went to Ben's 12 month check up. As soon as we got into the room Ben wanted to get down and play! Dr. Cook says that he is at or above on all his developments and that he is a healthy boy!!! Ben still only has 2 teeth but he said that's okay and he will get them sometime before he's 3! It doesn't stop him from eating!! He loves to eat!! So no big deal. It was so sweet because Ben was totally showing off for Dr. Cook! He was playing peek a boo with him and then waved and gave him a high five when he left!!

Okay and I know it's not the best to compare kids because they are all different but I just can't help it!! It's fun to look back and see what Alli was doing at this time and how big she was. So her and Ben are almost exactly the same height and weight and are doing most of the same things... only thing different is that Alli was talking way way more than Ben is. Maybe its a girl boy thing or maybe because he is the 2nd child and doesn't get all the one on one time Alli got but she was saying 40 words at this time. Ben says:

Mama, Dad, vroom vroom (so cute! its when he is playing with his cars!), thank you, that (all the time! mostly when he wants food!), he used to say bottle but he doesn't have bottles anymore so I'm trying to teach him milk! That's all I can think of now.

He is walking, running and climbing anything and everything. He wants to be doing anything that Alli is doing and vice versa. He walks backwards and says beep beep (okay that's another word!) He loves to play with all his cars and race tracks he got for his birthday! He also likes to play in Alli's kitchen she got for her birthday! He really likes to put stuff in the oven and microwave and open and shut the door to look for it!! It is so fun to see him grow up and really understand how things work! Have I mentioned that he is just so much fun and is just so sweet!! He will come over to me and just give me hugs and kisses!!! We love him so much!!! This next year is going to be so much fun!!!
