One Step Closer!!!

Tonight Liz and I spent the majority of the night setting up the travel system - Carrier, Stroller, and Car Seat base.  We went ahead and put the car seat base in Liz's car (2007 Honda Accord), but tested the base out in my truck (2001 Ford F-150).  It works in the truck, but barely fits on the bench seat in the back - so we've got to replace the truck soon.  I don't know how safe I'll feel driving the truck with Cricket in it.  The truck has made it 9 years, but it may be time to move on a family car.

We also had fun setting up the Stroller.  Me being the handy man around the house, I wanted to set it up all by myself.  What would Liz know about setting something that big up?  Boy, was I wrong!  I don't think I could have done it without her.  In fact, I KNOW I wouldn't have been able to do it without her.  I tried for 10 minutes to get the foot rest on.  After letting me have a turn at, she steps in and - WAH-LA - the foot rest is attached.  Same thing with the Child's Tray.  I got up to get a screw driver and help me get it on and - WAH-LA - she uses a fingernail to get the piece on.  I have a great feeling that she is going to be a VERY resourceful mother.  Cricket will be very lucky to have her.

Well, here are the pictures of the final work from tonight.  It turned out great and we are one step closer to being ready for Cricket's arrival.

Cricket gets Morphed

I found a web site during my lunch break today called http://www.morphthing.com/.  You upload two photos and it creates what your child will look like.  Liz and I did this in a machine at Dave & Buster's while we were living in Austin, but cannot find the pictures anywhere.  So I upload four recent pictures of us and created two morph'ed pictures, a boy and a girl.  The kids look like they are 3-4 years old.  Think they look anything like us?

Cricket's Room Furnature

We spent last night moving in furnature for Cricket's room.  We still have a long way to go before the room is complete, but here are some initial pictures.

Our First Family Photos

The Title says it all...

Painting Cricket's Room

Here are some pictures of us painting Cricket's room.  I started painting the room myself but in the end had to ask my mom to help me finish.  She's very good at that kind of stuff.  The picture at the top of our blog (Coming Soon: Cricket Payne) is what I painted after night one.  We decided to go with yellow (was originally maroon) for the room since we don't know if it's a boy or girl to keep the colors neutral.  Yellow just happens to be Liz's favorite color - maybe that's why she didn't want to know the sex of the baby, just so she could have a room in the house painted yellow.  :-)

What does Cricket wear home from the hospital?

We decided (or should I say, I decided) that the first outfit that Cricket will wear home will be something Football related.  In my opinion, it just has to be something football related.  Cricket's expected to arrive right in the middle of our two favorite team's push to the playoffs.  With both of our blood-lines, Cricket will no doubt be a football fan.  The question is - Steelers or Cowboys?

So a few months back, I went online and bought two one-sies - Steelers and Cowboys.  I made the proposition to Liz that what ever team has the best record when Cricket comes is the outfit that Cricket wears home.  I don't know if it will end up happening or not (Cricket may look really cute in a Santa Claus outfit), but I thought I'd give it a try.  Here are the outfits I bought.

By the way - both the Cowboys and Steelers are 3-2 up to this point...

Who will Cricket look like?

Here are two pictures of Liz and I when we were kids.  Who will Cricket look like someday?  I personally think that we are going to have the cutest kid ever.  :-)
