Valentine's Day!

Cricket's first Valentine's was a great one! With all the snow we had here in Texas, Grammy and Grampy were left with no power at their house, so they stayed the night with us! When Grampy came back from the store on Valentine's morning not only did he have purple (her favorite color) roses for Grammy, he had a giant balloon that said I love you for his little valentine! Thanks Grampy! We love you!

Cricket loves the balloon! She laughs when she sees it and she was even holding on to the string! Here are some pictures we took to try and capture the joy that balloon brings her!

To end the day we all went to dinner to celebrate Alli's 1st Valentine's!

Snow in Texas???

I'm sure that most of you heard that we got record snowfall here in Texas.  We set a single day record of 12.5 inches of snow - in one day - in Texas!!! The day before Cricket arrived it snowed, it snowed on Christmas Eve, and snowed record amounts on Thursday.  I told Liz that Cricket is going to think that snow is normal and is going to wonder what's going on when it doesn't snow again for 5-10 years.

Unfortunately, work didn't get cancelled for me - the roads ended up staying in pretty good condition, so the only time we got to enjoy it was when I came home for lunch.  We decided to bundle her up and take her outside for some pictures.  The snow kept hitting her face and she looked really confused as to what the cold thing was that kept hitting her.  Below are some pictures of the snow.  You'll see that we only got 8-9 inches in the picture, but I think some of it had already melted by the time I got there.  Hope you enjoy!

Go Illinois!!!

It's really official.  Cricket is going to be a basketball player and her favorite team will be the Fighting Illini.  Last Saturday night she got to wear an Illinois onesie that my Aunt Tracy got her and she sat and watched the game with me.  Cricket's Aunt Taylor came over to see her and hung with us for a little bit as well.  We got some cute pictures of her in her Illinois gear and even a video of her watching the game.

A day of firsts...

Last weekend, Allison had a big day of firsts.  She went to her first Church service and sat alone in her Bumbo chair later that night.  We got to church extra early to get a spot in the back and ended up not having any problems.  She did so good and slept through the whole service.  When we got home, we decided to see if she could sit in her Bumbo chair since she's been doing such a good job with her neck movement.  She did great with it and had a lot of fun sitting in the chair.  It's definitely not something that she can stay in for a long period of time quite yet, but she did really good.  Check out these pictures of our cute Catholic girl and her cute outfit.

2 Months Old!!!

Our Baby girl is 2 months old already, where did that time go? Today Alli had a very eventful day. It started with a trip to the Dr for her 2 month check up and shots. All week I had been preparing her that we were going to the Dr and that she was going to get some shots but that it would just hurt for a second and then she would be all done (at least for another 2 months!) Well, she was just great!! First when the Dr was examining her she was just laying there smiling at him, it was so cute!! Dr says she looks healthy and great! She is 12lbs 5.2oz, that's 80% percentile. She is 23 and 5/8 inches long, that's 85% percentile. So she eats good- she gets that from Mommy and she is tall- she gets that from Daddy.

So now to the SHOTS!!! The Dr leaves ( he doesn't want to be the bad guy) and the nurses come in with shots in hand... They count to 3 and then here comes a big WAHHHH!!!! It lasted maybe 30 seconds and then she was just fine! Now if only its that easy when we take the band aids off!! :)  I think I will have Dad be the one to take the band aids off.

After the Dr we are off to the hospital to get her sonogram on her hips- for some that don't know when Alli was born we had them check her hips for hip displacement- my sister had that when she was a baby so it runs in the family and it is more common in breech babies. It turns out that her hip was not displaced when she was born but that is was still loose so they wanted us to have a follow up at 6-8 weeks to see if it was normal now... And it is!!! She was great with those Dr's as well... She was smiling at the assistant before the Dr came in and then when he was checking her out and pulling and pushing on her legs and hip she didn't cry at all! He even said she was a very pleasant baby! So with such a big day for her she was out like a light before we hit the parking lot and is still sleeping. Its been a very busy stressful day for our little girl but she handled it like a pro! Here are some pictures of her band aids (and chubby legs), her after the shots, her waiting on the Dr for the sonogram and then her sleeping in her carrier.

Professional Photos

Liz & Donna took Alli to get professional photos the other day.  They did a really good job getting some good shots of her.  The picture at the top was one of the pictures.  Below are the other pictures.  Please note that we don't own a scanner so for the time being, we've taken a picture of the picture to get it on the blog (the quality isn't that good).  Isn't she just the most adorable thing you've ever seen?!?!? Hope you enjoy!
