Day Two - What a GREAT BABY!

Can you believe we made it to the end of day #2?!?!  I'm currently sitting in a cool, dark hospital room with my two girls sound asleep (both snoring - really cute!). It's such a great feeling to look at both of them and know that they are both all mine.  I thought I'd take this time to write about Day 2 - however, since I've had almost no sleep, you'll have to give me a pass on any spelling or grammar errors.  :-)

We had a GREAT Day 2.  Cricket did a great job feeding today and got a lot of sleep in.  She really didn't even fuss that much today.  She's going to be a wonderful baby.  She officially turned one day old today - see the photo below with the clock. She had her hearing test today and passed with flying colors and even met with a pediatrician who said that she looks great.

Mom is doing great and doing a GREAT job with the feedings.  You can tell that she really paid attention during the breastfeeding class and did her homework during the pregnancy.  Her and Cricket are really on the same page when it comes to feeding time.  However, I must say that I think we found something that Daddy might get some credit for.  Everytime Cricket gets fussy during the feeding, I'll put my pointer finger in her hand and she grabs hold of it tight.  After a few seconds, she latches on and the fussing stops.  Like I've said before, I think she's going to be a Daddy's girl!  See the picture below where you can see her holding on to my finger.

I hope that we get some sleep tonight and that Day 3 goes as well as today went.    Thank you to everyone who has sent us words of encouragement.  We wish we had time to respond to all of you but Cricket is keeping us extra busy.  Please continue to leave us comments and email us, as its a great change of pace during the day to see what all of you think.  Below are pictures from throughout the day.

Video of Cricket's First Morning

Well, we made it through the first night.  Cricket did great!  She ate a few times and slept a few hours.  Liz and I even got a few hours of sleep.  The only time that she got a little fussy was right before the scheduled time that the nurse was to take her away to check her out.  They brought her back wrapped up like a little burrito all nice and snug.  She loved it and slept great like that.

Cricket woke up this morning alert and ready to eat.  She been eating most of the morning so far.  When she's not eating she wants her hands in her mouth.  Here's a video of her first morning.

Daddy's Little Girl

After getting to wind down last night, Daddy and Cricket got to spend some quality alone time together.  We talked about a bunch of different things - even agreed that she'd be a Pitcher someday in Softball and a Power Forward in Basketball  I can already tell that I've got a lot of fun years coming up!  Here are pictures of us together:

CRICKET IS HERE!!!!

Today we were blessed with the arrival of Cricket Payne! Born at 12:24 p.m. weighing in at 8 pounds & 9 ounces and 21 inches long, Allison Elizabeth Payne's birthday is now officially December 3rd.

Everything went absolutely wonderful today.  Liz and I got to the hospital at 9:30 a.m. and we were in our room by 10:00 a.m.  Family arrived around 11:00 as we were preparing to go to the O.R.  At approximately 12:00 p.m., they took Liz and I back to the room.  They had me wait outside the room as they prepared her.  Around 12:20 p.m. the nurse came out to get me from the hallway.  Crazy sidenote - they had a radio playing in the O.R. and as I walked in, I hear the song that is playing - Making Memories of Us by Keith Urban - our wedding song!  So not five minutes later, I lean over the drape just in time to see Cricket coming out.  Dr. Rajala pulled Cricket out and asked me to announce whether it was a boy or girl.  IT'S A GIRL!  It was definitely worth the wait not finding out.  I couldn't have asked for a better surprise!  She's going to be a such a Daddy's Girl.  I can already tell.

Thank you to all of our family and friends who kept us in your thoughts and prayers over the last 9 months.  We feel so blessed to have a happy, healthy little girl as part of our family now.  I also feel so blessed to have such a wonderful wife who not only did such an amazing job today, but such a great job growing our little one over the past 9 months.  She is already such a good mother!

Below are some pictures from throughout the day today.  Check back over the next few days and weeks for new pictures.  Please leave your comments if you'd like and please note that if you click on the picture, it pulls up the picture and makes it larger.
